Disclosure:we run a competing referral model, so read our numbers as critically as theirs. The short version: a shared UK trade lead typically costs £15–40, an exclusive, intent-confirmed referral runs £45–120, and every referral we send passes five published checks first or is never billed.
How much does a lead cost in the UK?
The anchor: £15–40 for a shared lead, £45–120 for an exclusive, intent-confirmed referral. The gap is the race: a shared enquiry is sold to several trades at once, and however many buy in, at most one wins the job. Here is every major platform, priced and dated.
| Platform | Model | Price | Shared with | Last verified |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MyBuilder | Shared lead | £5–35 typical, £50+ larger jobs ("from £7" official) | 3–5 trades | 22 Jul 2026 |
| Rated People | Shared lead plus subscription | £15–40 per lead, plus £30–60 per month | Maximum 3 trades | 22 Jul 2026 |
| Bark | Credit-based shared lead, credits expire after 3 months | £1.80 per credit; £9–36+ typical, £30–70+ high-value | Up to 5 buyers | 22 Jul 2026 |
| Checkatrade | Subscription, no per-lead fee | £30–500+ per month | One enquiry shared with 10–20+ trades | 22 Jul 2026 |
| TrustATrader | Upfront membership | £240–750 per year | Capped at 10 per category per area | 22 Jul 2026 |
Prices are from the UK Trade Lead Cost Tracker (22 July 2026) and each platform’s own published terms. For what tradespeople say about living with these models, see is Checkatrade worth it, Bark reviews for tradespeople and MyBuilder reviews.
How much does a Checkatrade lead cost?
There is no per-lead price: Checkatrade sells membership at £30–500+ per month, and one enquiry is shared with 10–20+ member trades. The trustedtradesman site lists Checkatrade membership at £60–120 per month for most trades. So your real cost per lead is your subscription divided by the enquiries you win, and the 10–20+ way split sets that denominator low.
Worth saying plainly: none of the five biggest UK platforms publishes a full price list, and two, Rated People and TrustATrader, publish nothing at all. That is why this page exists, and why every row above carries a date. Undated price claims in this market are marketing.
What do exclusive calls cost in the US?
Exclusive MVA (motor vehicle accident) calls clear at $200–500. The mechanism is upstream acquisition cost: in Florida, Google charges $256 per click for “car accident lawyer” and $629 for “motorcycle accident lawyer”, with top-of-page bids reaching $1,000. A verified caller is worth a multiple of a click.
Two published reference points bracket the market: Offer Globe buys exclusive MVA calls at $200–500, and CallScaler publishes a $75–200 publisher payout. Our own 20-call pilot sits inside that range, with pilot pricing from $450 per verified inbound call.
For legal buyers, delivery is exclusive per call: never resold, one buyer per call. We are an advertising and marketing service, not a lawyer referral service, and delivery has to stay compatible with each state’s bar advertising rules. The full offer is on the attorney lead generation page.
What do solar leads cost?
SolarReviews’ own published page states $25–300 per lead, from 689k leads generated year to date. The same page states leads are sold to 2.3 companies on average, with an 80–85% contact rate, a 3–7% close rate, no returns, and that 93–97% won’t close. That is the seller describing its own product, not a competitor’s complaint.
The pattern holds outside solar. In US final expense insurance, the widely-reported industry figure is that a fresh lead is called by 5–20 agents within the first hour. Different vertical, same race.
A low lead price can be the most expensive number on the page, if every buyer is paying to lose the same race.
Why do exclusive referrals cost £45–120?
Because the seller only gets paid once. A shared enquiry at £15–40 is collected from several buyers, so each ticket is cheap; an exclusive referral carries the whole cost of finding, checking and delivering one warm customer to one business. The number that decides between them is total spend divided by jobs won, and a shared race divides your wins across everyone in it. The full breakdown of the three products is in shared leads vs exclusive leads vs referrals.
Affly, a lead-gen blog, runs illustrative example maths that shows the inversion: shared leads at £2–20 closing at 5–15% with 30–50% contact rates, against exclusive leads at £15–80 closing at 25–40% with 70–90% contact rates. Their figures are an illustration, not a measurement, but run the division either way and the cheap column loses.
Our own model prices in the exclusive band and puts the checking in writing: every referral passes the five published checks of The Referral Standard, fails one and it is not sent and not billed. No retainer, no lock-in on referral supply, and in trades verticals, one partner per area.

How much does a Checkatrade lead cost?
Checkatrade has no per-lead fee. Membership runs £30–500+ per month depending on tier, and one enquiry is shared with 10–20+ member trades. The trustedtradesman site lists Checkatrade membership at £60–120 per month for most trades. Your real cost per lead is your subscription divided by the enquiries you actually win.
How much do leads cost in the UK?
A shared UK trade lead typically costs £15–40. An exclusive, intent-confirmed referral runs £45–120. Below the anchor: MyBuilder charges £5–35 typical per shared lead, Rated People £15–40 plus a £30–60 monthly subscription, and Bark sells credits at £1.80 each with typical leads at £9–36+.
How much does an exclusive MVA call cost in the US?
The market clearing price for an exclusive MVA call is $200–500: Offer Globe buys in that range, and CallScaler publishes a $75–200 publisher payout. Our pilot pricing starts from $450 per verified inbound call, delivered exclusively: never resold, one buyer per call.
Why don't lead platforms publish prices?
None of the five biggest UK platforms publishes a full price list, and Rated People and TrustATrader publish nothing at all. Opaque pricing suits the seller: it keeps buyers comparing star ratings instead of cost per job won, which is the only number that decides whether a platform pays for itself.
How much do solar leads cost in the US?
SolarReviews' own published page states $25–300 per lead. The same page says leads are sold to 2.3 companies on average, there are no returns, and 93–97% won't close. That is the seller describing its own product.
What should I actually measure instead of price per lead?
Total spend divided by jobs won. A shared enquiry is sold several times, so every buyer but one pays to lose the race. An exclusive referral costs more per unit, but there is no race, which is why the cost per job won usually inverts the comparison.
